Frequently Asked Questions:
-
The weather looks bad, are you open?
We usually open even in the rain - the pool is warm and it's still lovely to swim even in the rain! We will close in very heavy rain, or if we see lightning / hear thunder. If this happens, you'll be notified via email and your session will be rescheduled.
-
Do you sell ice creams and drinks?
Yes! We have a small kiosk which sells:
Tea, coffee & hot chocolate
Crisps, popcorn & snacks
Ice creams & lollies
Sweets
Cold drinks
Hot pot noodles
-
Why do I need to shower before I get in the pool?
Sunscreen, sweat, hair and body products can all cloud the water. We have an excellent system, but with many swimmers on a hot day, the water can still get cloudy. If it becomes too cloudy, and we can't see the bottom of the pool, it's not safe to swim and we have to close.
-
Is there a lifeguard for all sessions?
Yes, there is.
Please note that lifeguards are there for emergencies and to ensure safety.
Children are the responsibility of their accompanying adult. Please supervise your child/ren and enforce our rules (no bombing, diving, pushing, running etc - all displayed at the pool).
-
What are the rules for supervising children?
ALL children must be supervised:
Under 3's / weak or non-swimmers need an adult in the pool 1 : 1.
One adult can supervise 2 competent swimmers age 3-8 in the pool.
One adult can supervise a maximum of 3 competent swimmers aged 8 - 16 from poolside.
-
Can we bring inflatables to the pool?
The lifeguard will decide whether inflatables are allowed in a session, they need to be able to see everyone in the pool and safety is the first priority. Usually inflatables are ok in quieter sessions. Large inflatables may not be allowed, please check with the lifeguard before your swim.
-
How big is the pool? Is it heated?
The pool is an open air pool / lido. It is 21.3m by 7.3m with the shallow end 1m deep, gradually deepening to a maximum of 1.7m at the Eastern end. It has a small semi-circular paddling pool with a depth of 0.3m attached to the main pool, separated by bars.
The temperature varies but it's usually 28-30֯ C.
-
Is the pool a charity?
Yes, registered charity number 300029. The pool is run by a small team of committed trustees and committee members. We employ staff throughout the open season to run the sessions, and everything else done behind the scenes is done voluntarily by our committee.

It's less than 48 hours until my booking, can I still change it?
Unfortunately not, we have the 48 hour policy in place as it allows us to resell slots. We are a small charity who is very dependent on weather, so we have to have a refund and cancellation policy in place to ensure we make enough money to cover the cost of heating and staffing the pool.
